Interoute and Infinera has successfully completed the first transmission to 100 Gigabit / s submarine network in Europe using the new photonic integrated circuits (PCI) of 500 Gigabits / s Infinera on the Interoute network. The operator, first in Europe to install PCI Infinera circuits for more than three years, will use the new generation of systems based on Infinera channels of 100 Gbps to 500 Gbps circuits PCIs from next year. This test consolidate cooperation between the two companies to provide a solution based on high-capacity 100 Gbps channels.

The broadcast of streaming sports was from Amsterdam to London and back to Amsterdam, traveling 940 miles under the North Sea. The signals are received without errors, although there is a long link repeaters for submarine network of 210 kilometers between the coasts of Holland and the UK. Its performance is enormous, as each channel 100 Gbps can handle over 200,000 simultaneous video conference between London and Amsterdam, or in other words, more than 1.5 million telephone conversations. This is the first photogenic integrated circuits of 500 Gbps Infinite channels able to transmit 100 Gbps in a European network.

The same fiber simultaneously carrying 200 Gbps of real-time traffic through channels of 10 Gbps, demonstrating that Infinite Liver System (ILS) can carry two types of signals without interference.
